Semester Test

When I first saw commercials for High School Musical, I knew I would never watch it because of how gay it looked. After the first 20 minutes of it though, I couldn't stop watching it. It is seriously more than just a musical; its a movie. A wonderful movie. I will talk about the plot of the movie, compare it to other musicals, and tell what I like about it.

Two normal teens meet on a cruise while being picked to sing at a party. Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens)immediately become attracted to each other. After the break, Troy returns to school as the basketball team captain/hero of the school person he is. What he doesn't know is that Gabriella has been switched to his school. They meet in detention that is held by the school's drama teacher, Ms. Darbus. Troy has a championship game coming up and is losing focus of basketball over this girl. The science club is also having a tournament they want to win and need Gabriella to join because she is a "genius". So the ball team and science team unite to split these two love birds apart so both will benefit. What they don't know is they have ruined these two peoples lives while also possibly jeopardizing both chances of winning. So they join back to fix things and all in the mean time, Troy and Gabriella were wanting to act in Ms. Darbus's upcoming play. So 3 major events end up happening in one night: the championship game, the science tournament, and the play callbacks. In the end, Troy and Gabriella end up singing in front of nearly the whole school (after Gabriella won her tournament and Troy's game got temporarily postponed). The song was beautiful, Troy went back and won the game, and everything was perfect.

This muscial is the same as most other musicals in the fact that people stop everything whether it is in the middle of a fight or the middle of lunch to start singing and having a great time together. It's like everyone are all friends even if in the movie they are not. It is different because it is more upbeat and has better songs and is more for kids of the newer generation.

I like pretty much everything about the movie. I thought the people played their characters very well. The singing was good and made people want to dance and sing along as well. I even pictured myself being in a High School Musical, and I thought I would never say that.

In conclusion, High School Musical has a great plot for people of all ages and has wonderful songs, it is still a musical, but it can be said it is better than other musicals, and pretty much everything about the movie is great. I really enjoyed it.

Acceptance Speech

Hello, my name is Conor Lawrence. And I would first off like to thank God for giving me the honor of having this award bestowed upon me. I don't know why Mr. Hefner has chosen me as the one to inherit his mansion and the company name. Quite frankly, I don't care either. I am just so glad to now be the runner of Playboy. I am made for this job. I am good with business, good with women, and good with money.

First, although sometimes I want to have fun being all rich and famous, I will still keep the business side of me. I take any kind of work serious. From my point of view, it's business first and fun second. I can give great new ideas out and it will seem like Hef hasn't even left. I will not let this business go under during these depressing times. People will still want to buy my Playboy magazines.

Second, I am good with women. I can pick only the most beautiful women in the world to go in my magazines. I will keep them with me everywhere I go to show I can keep up with Hef in every way. My bunnies will be twice as pretty as his, along with his that he already has. I can show them a fun time and they can live out the dream of being a Playboy bunny.

Last, I am good with money. I will not take all the company's money and blow it on stuff for me. I will put nearly all of it into the business and stock. Sure I am going to buy me a few things, but not anything huge. I have always been good at keeping my money up and not wasting much of it.

Now rapping this speech up. I would once again love to thank God for making me the person I am. You all will not be upset with me now in charge of the business. I will be good with the business, the girls, and the money. Thank you all for listening.

Mr. Bean part 3

This starts out with him at a swimming pool and he wants to go in on a little kid slide but gets caught as he starts to go down so he goes to the diving area. Here he is high up and very afraid to go in. Next he is trying to get out of a parking area so he doesn't have to pay. Then he is at some park bench with this man reading a book and he goes through way to much trouble to fix him a little sandwich. After that he is at a stoplight and pushes his car through it. Then he goes to a movie and is watching it with a girl that he bought a large popcorn for him and a tiny one for her. He is scared to death of the movie.

Mr. Bean part 2

In his second short film, Mr. Bean starts out tring to pay a guy on the street and didn't have the right change he wanted to give him, so he dances and gets some money and pays the guy. Next, he is shopping for stuff and tries out all of his stuff he would use with them and a guy takes his credit card. And he has to go with him to the bathroom because his hand is stuck in the guys pants. Third, he is going out to eat by himself and is writing some sort of card that is for himself and he enjoys it. Its so funny so far. He is trying to see what he can buy with the little money he has on him. And he is having to eat like raw hamburger meat but he puts it everwhere in the room. He is then at some meet and greet with famous stars.

Mr. Bean part 1

I for one do not like nonverbal communication. I thought Mr. Bean is hilarious even though he doesn't talk very much. I am not good at not being able to talk. I have to be able to speak to get all of my points through. In his first movie he starts out with a hilarious scene when he is getting an exam. In the next scene he is at a beach trying to change into his swimsuit (underwear-like bottoms) and doesn't like doing it whitle this guy is there, but the guy is blind. In the third scene he is at a church and keeps falling asleep and being very disruptive. But all-in-all the whole thing was hilarious from start to finish

Classroom Computers

Computers in a classroom may be the greatest advancement in learning technology for schools. From my perspective, an average student, they are the worst thing that can be used for educational purposes. They are distracting, difficult, and hard to learn from.

First, computers are distracting. From personal experience, I do not always use the computer as directed and go off and play games while I am supposed to be doing something else. This in turn causes me to get a bad grade on the assignment I was supposed to be doing. Also, the screen is just distracting to my eyes and cause them to hurt after long uses of the computer. I know more kids have this problem as well. With computers, there is just no interpersonal communication involved either. Since no communication will be made, people will not understand the communication process anymore.

Secondly, computers are difficult. At times they can be slow or just suddenly lose internet connection, stressing everyone out who is using a computer. Also, the computers are hard to use because there is so much that can be done with one and us students know so little about them and the teachers assign us to do stuff on them and we do not know what we are doing, making everything so much more difficult than a pencil, some paper, and a book. But one positive thing of computers is that someone can be a sender and send homework online or be a receiver and receive e-mails from their teachers about stuff they need to work on.

Lastly, computers are hard to learn from. I can not learn anything about anything from Google or any other stupid website. I learn so much better and easier by the old-fashioned paper. I think it's because the paper is not lit up and hurting my eyes or distracting me by having the ability to play games or look at pictures or listen to music. Education levels will drop because of these reasons and many more due to computer use. Kids will stray away from the thought of school use and instead use them for personal reasons. Computers are like working around noise; it's hard to do it.

In conclusion, computers have the ability to be used for education, but students are not using them for such a reason. I am against the use of computers because they are distracting, difficult, and hard to learn from.

Banning Ipods

Ipods should not be banned from schools. Although some students use them to cheat, many others who do not use them for such a way will lose the privelege of being able to entertain themselves after testing or when they have free time, which is not fair to them. Many students will not take the time and put in the effort of putting cheats into songs on their ipod, so only a minority who have way to much time on their hands will do that method of cheating. I would love to keep the privelege of being able to listen to my ipod while I am not busy, so I know other people would as well. But when it comes down to it, if a student has to resort to cheating, it's the teachers fault because they did not do their job and properly prepare the student for the work that is meant to be done. Here is an article that I like about someone who is against banning ipods:

Oral Com Assignment 3-2-10

I have been asked to make a blog for my class today about 3 different stories. They are about an Earthquake, which can be found at: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/lt_chile_earthquake;_ylt=Asvgs.kkTmBm2Gg.uvDxPX.s0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNqYmlkcW5yBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAwMzAxL2x0X2NoaWxlX2VhcnRocXVha2UEY2NvZGUDbW9zdHBvcHVsYXIEY3BvcwMxBHBvcwMyBHB0A2hvbWVfY29rZQRzZWMDeW5fdG9wX3N0b3J5BHNsawNjaGlsZXRyb29wc3A-

about Global Warming, which can be found at: http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20100228/ts_csm/283713

and about a European Storm, which can be found at:

Anyways, the stories all are about nature and disasters it can cause. I have found out that something like a large city that can take many years to form and become so popular can be wiped out in less than a day.

An earthquake hit out in the middle of an ocean, whiched caused a tsunami to form and it hit the coast. In most of the cities on that coast, nearly everything was destroyed and left without food or power. Bodies were buried fast because the funeral homes had no power. Bad things can happen quickly when a tsunami hits..

Global Warming is really an unsure topic currently. Some people believe that its true, but some people do not. Only time will be able to tell who is right.

A storm hit in Europe and currently killed 62 people. The storm, Xynthia, blew into France with hurricane-force winds, flooding ports, destroying homes and leaving 1 million households without electricity. It also battered Belgium, Portugal, Spain and parts of Germany and snarled train and air travel throughout the continent. The storm also caused six deaths in Germany — including a 2-year-old boy who drowned after he was blown into a river. Three people were dead in Spain, and Belgium and Portugal had one fatality each.

I think the main idea from not just one story, but all 3, is that you can never tell what mother nature will do and if something good or bad will come out of it. To me, this is something to always keep in mind before moving near any coast or any place where theres a lot of earthquakes that happen.
