After the first 20 minutes of it though, I couldn't stop watching it. It is seriously more than just a musical; its a movie. A wonderful movie. I will talk about the plot of the movie, compare it to other musicals, and tell what I like about it.

Two normal teens meet on a cruise while being picked to sing at a party. Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens)immediately become attracted to each other. After the break, Troy returns to school as the basketball team captain/hero of the school person he is. What he doesn't know is that Gabriella has been switched to his school. They meet in detention that is held by the school's drama teacher, Ms. Darbus. Troy has a championship game coming up and is losing focus of basketball over this girl. The science club is also having a tournament they want to win and need Gabriella to join because she is a "genius". So the ball team and science team unite to split these two love birds apart so both will benefit. What they don't know is they have ruined these two peoples lives while also possibly jeopardizing both chances of winning. So they join back to fix things and all in the mean time, Troy and Gabriella were wanting to act in Ms. Darbus's upcoming play. So 3 major events end up happening in one night: the championship game, the science tournament, and the play callbacks. In the end, Troy and Gabriella end up singing in front of nearly the whole school (after Gabriella won her tournament and Troy's game got temporarily postponed). The song was beautiful, Troy went back and won the game, and everything was perfect.

This muscial is the same as most other musicals in the fact that people stop everything whether it is in the middle of a fight or the middle of lunch to start singing and having a great time together. It's like everyone are all friends even if in the movie they are not. It is different because it is more upbeat and has better songs and is more for kids of the newer generation.

I like pretty much everything about the movie. I thought the people played their characters very well. The singing was good and made people want to dance and sing along as well. I even pictured myself being in a High School Musical, and I thought I would never say that.

In conclusion, High School Musical has a great plot for people of all ages and has wonderful songs, it is still a musical, but it can be said it is better than other musicals, and pretty much everything about the movie is great. I really enjoyed it.

Acceptance Speech

Hello, my name is Conor Lawrence. And I would first off like to thank God for giving me the honor of having this award bestowed upon me. I don't know why Mr. Hefner has chosen me as the one to inherit his mansion and the company name. Quite frankly, I don't care either. I am just so glad to now be the runner of Playboy. I am made for this job. I am good with business, good with women, and good with money.

First, although sometimes I want to have fun being all rich and famous, I will still keep the business side of me. I take any kind of work serious. From my point of view, it's business first and fun second. I can give great new ideas out and it will seem like Hef hasn't even left. I will not let this business go under during these depressing times. People will still want to buy my Playboy magazines.

Second, I am good with women. I can pick only the most beautiful women in the world to go in my magazines. I will keep them with me everywhere I go to show I can keep up with Hef in every way. My bunnies will be twice as pretty as his, along with his that he already has. I can show them a fun time and they can live out the dream of being a Playboy bunny.

Last, I am good with money. I will not take all the company's money and blow it on stuff for me. I will put nearly all of it into the business and stock. Sure I am going to buy me a few things, but not anything huge. I have always been good at keeping my money up and not wasting much of it.

Now rapping this speech up. I would once again love to thank God for making me the person I am. You all will not be upset with me now in charge of the business. I will be good with the business, the girls, and the money. Thank you all for listening.

West Side Story

The white people and the Peurto Ricans are having a big dispute. I thought Mr. Bean is hilarious even though he doesn't talk very much. I am not good at not being able to talk. I have to be able to speak to get all of my points through. In his first movie he starts out with a hilarious scene when he is getting an exam. In the next scene he is at a beach trying to change into his swimsuit (underwear-like bottoms) and doesn't like doing it whitle this guy is there, but the guy is blind. In the third scene he is at a church and keeps falling asleep and being very disruptive. But all-in-all the whole thing was hilarious from start to finish

Classroom Computers

Computers in a classroom may be the greatest advancement in learning technology for schools. From my perspective, an average student, they are the worst thing that can be used for educational purposes. They are distracting, difficult, and hard to learn from.

First, computers are distracting. From personal experience, I do not always use the computer as directed and go off and play games while I am supposed to be doing something else. This in turn causes me to get a bad grade on the assignment I was supposed to be doing. Also, the screen is just distracting to my eyes and cause them to hurt after long uses of the computer. I know more kids have this problem as well. With computers, there is just no interpersonal communication involved either. Since no communication will be made, people will not understand the communication process anymore.

Secondly, computers are difficult. At times they can be slow or just suddenly lose internet connection, stressing everyone out who is using a computer. Also, the computers are hard to use because there is so much that can be done with one and us students know so little about them and the teachers assign us to do stuff on them and we do not know what we are doing, making everything so much more difficult than a pencil, some paper, and a book. But one positive thing of computers is that someone can be a sender and send homework online or be a receiver and receive e-mails from their teachers about stuff they need to work on.

Lastly, computers are hard to learn from. I can not learn anything about anything from Google or any other stupid website. I learn so much better and easier by the old-fashioned paper. I think it's because the paper is not lit up and hurting my eyes or distracting me by having the ability to play games or look at pictures or listen to music. Education levels will drop because of these reasons and many more due to computer use. Kids will stray away from the thought of school use and instead use them for personal reasons. Computers are like working around noise; it's hard to do it.

In conclusion, computers have the ability to be used for education, but students are not using them for such a reason. I am against the use of computers because they are distracting, difficult, and hard to learn from.

Banning Ipods

Ipods should not be banned from schools. Although some students use them to cheat, many others who do not use them for such a way will lose the privelege of being able to entertain themselves after testing or when they have free time, which is not fair to them. Many students will not take the time and put in the effort of putting cheats into songs on their ipod, so only a minority who have way to much time on their hands will do that method of cheating. I would love to keep the privelege of being able to listen to my ipod while I am not busy, so I know other people would as well. But when it comes down to it, if a student has to resort to cheating, it's the teachers fault because they did not do their job and properly prepare the student for the work that is meant to be done. Here is an article that I like about someone who is against banning ipods:

Oral Com Assignment 3-2-10

I have been asked to make a blog for my class today about 3 different stories. They are about an Earthquake, which can be found at: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/lt_chile_earthquake;_ylt=Asvgs.kkTmBm2Gg.uvDxPX.s0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNqYmlkcW5yBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAwMzAxL2x0X2NoaWxlX2VhcnRocXVha2UEY2NvZGUDbW9zdHBvcHVsYXIEY3BvcwMxBHBvcwMyBHB0A2hvbWVfY29rZQRzZWMDeW5fdG9wX3N0b3J5BHNsawNjaGlsZXRyb29wc3A-

about Global Warming, which can be found at: http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20100228/ts_csm/283713

and about a European Storm, which can be found at:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100301/ap_on_re_eu/eu_france_deadly_storm

Anyways, the stories all are about nature and disasters it can cause. I have found out that something like a large city that can take many years to form and become so popular can be wiped out in less than a day.

An earthquake hit out in the middle of an ocean, whiched caused a tsunami to form and it hit the coast. In most of the cities on that coast, nearly everything was destroyed and left without food or power. Bodies were buried fast because the funeral homes had no power. Bad things can happen quickly when a tsunami hits..

Global Warming is really an unsure topic currently. Some people believe that its true, but some people do not. Only time will be able to tell who is right.

A storm hit in Europe and currently killed 62 people. The storm, Xynthia, blew into France with hurricane-force winds, flooding ports, destroying homes and leaving 1 million households without electricity. It also battered Belgium, Portugal, Spain and parts of Germany and snarled train and air travel throughout the continent. The storm also caused six deaths in Germany — including a 2-year-old boy who drowned after he was blown into a river. Three people were dead in Spain, and Belgium and Portugal had one fatality each.

I think the main idea from not just one story, but all 3, is that you can never tell what mother nature will do and if something good or bad will come out of it. To me, this is something to always keep in mind before moving near any coast or any place where theres a lot of earthquakes that happen.

The Giver

The Giver was an alright book. After finishing a book about someone I really like to watch and study, this book did not seem very good. I do not like reading about perfect societies in which strict rules are made and people seem to be confined. Reading about topics such as this disturb me because they make me think about what life would be like for me if I were in their shoes, which would not be good.

Lois Lowry has great writing skills and can create a perfect vision in my mind of what is going on, but I still do not like the topics she writes about. I like the idea of how she made Jonas different from everyone else and how she made him escape with Gabe from his crazy society. I like the ending in the book, though, being that she left it open for the reader to imagine what happens.

Iceman

Currently, I have been watching one of the veteran's of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). Chuck Liddell is the greatest the sport has ever seen. Many people do not respect Chuck because he is old and kind of flabby, but he still has the knock-out punch he had the day he started in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).

Liddell came from a very poor family on the streets of California. At an early age, he was taught to fight by his grandfather. He knew not who his father was, therefore his grandfather was pretty much his only dad.

When Chuck got into college, he wrestled and played football. He bounced at clubs, bar tended, and did some kickboxing during this time. When his friend told him about joining the UFC, he was all for it. When Chuck was kickboxing, he was making around $500 a fight, now he makes over $250,000 for a fight. Not bad for a guy with a degree in accounting, huh?

The famous life treated Chuck very kindly. He received a hummer for fighting in one fight, a lamborghini from the UFC owner just because he liked him, and tons of attention from fans all around the world.

So much depends..

So much depends upon a small brown bible worn from years of use on top of the wooden church pew...

Animal Farm Review

Animal Farm was a relatively easy read. The book was short and words were used that are easy to understand, which makes a huge impact on my opinion of a book. If a book has a lot of words that I do not know what mean, I am not going to read it for long.

The book was also extremely hard for me to follow. Matching faces and voices to characters is the only problem I had on understanding the book. Also, I do not like books with animals as the main characters, such as this. I also did not like the concept of being based on real life events in which an animal represents a human in history. I simply could not follow.

Lastly, I did not like the plot of the story. I know it was based on actual events, but I would rather read a biography about WWII than I had about animals doing the war instead. I do not like to think of animals taking over a farm or the sight of one playing cards with a human. For some reason, such scenes send chills down my spine.

Techie Tools

My favorite techie tool to use on the computer would have to be blogger. Not only does this tool allow me to express my thoughts and opinions on certain events, but also allows me to view other people's thoughts, opinions, or other writings. Blogger allows me to express my life through words and show the world what I think. One of the best features is that people do not have to see who is behind the writing, like a mask. For the most part, I played basketball. I practiced a bunch of hours over the break and worked out more than I have ever done in my whole life it seems. The greatest part of spring break was my trip to Cancun, Mexico, though. My mom, dad, brother, and I went there the last part of the break and had a wonderful time together. We stayed outside for the most part there and went to the ocean. Life was different there, but I loved it. Spring break this year was a wonderful time in my life.

Anthem Review

A somewhat entertaining, yet hard to understand read, Anthem is a book I would not recommend. The book was fun, boring, and confusing all at the same time.

The book was a fun read because of how Equality 7-2521 went from one scene to another. He would be just a street sweeper one minute, then he would find a hidden tunnel the next, and lastly he sees the most beautiful woman and talks about her for a long time. He is funny because he refers to himself as "we" instead of "I" and commentates his entire life through this way.

At the same time of being funny, the book was utterly boring. I got tired of reading over and over about "we" and about this girl he calls the Golden One when her name is Liberty 5-3000. Action scenes were not put in the book enough.

The book was a very confusing read. Because of him using the "we" instead of "I", I could not tell if he was talking about himself alone or a group of people. Also, I could not match the names to peoples' faces because they were in number format. Lastly, I could not stand the way he talked about the modern society, because life sounded horrible for him but I wanted to know if it was for the others. Some of the other characters might actually like living such a life.

To Perfect My World...

In a personal opinion, the word is not a perfect place. Three ideas of which could better perfect the world are as follows: cures, freedom, and free products.

First, cures for every sort of disease would help most of the world. Everyone would get along better and be happier without diseases. Cancer, a world-wide killer, would no longer exist. HIV would no longer be a problem. Society would be able to function better as well as the economy. With less patients, hospitals would not have to use as much money and people would no longer have to pay to be treated. Human life would eventually prosper.

Secondly, freedom would be a huge role in the bettering of society. Illegal aliens would no longer exist and families could get back together and less chaos would happen. Times around the world would be more harmonious and life would excel.

Lastly, free products would be something to throw in and make living incredible! Going to a store and taking anything one might want would be an incredible advantage. Poor people would no longer be poor and rich people would no longer look as rich. People in general would all live as equals and have outstanding lives.

Beckham

The story of David Beckham's life is a wonderful tale. He is a great person, outstanding soccer player, and the perfect role model.

Being a great person can not completely describe David Beckham. He does remarkable jobs for anyone who needs help or for his fans. All the time he signs autographs and helps people out just to make himself feel good. He also does activities on his own, such as hanging with his friends and being a family man.

In today's society, no one can make the face of soccer better than Beckham. At an early age, he began practicing this sport and had the dream of being a professional. Shortly after, he became and all-star and played for the team he and his father wanted him to, Manchester United.

One of my role models is none other than David. He is a professional athlete, makes millions, and gets the girls. A guy of such a stature always has followers. He does not do illegal drugs and he is a wonderful father married to a beautiful woman. The story was fun, adventurous, and full of lessons to be learned.

To begin, the novel was a fun read. The story flowed really well and made complete sense, unlike Antigone. Also , the main character is a dog, which is my favorite animal. Most novels I read are very boring and I really do not like to read, but The Call of the Wild is one book I could read over and over again.

The story also brought me out of my house and into the wild. I like stories such as this which make adventures all over the country, or in this case, all over the wild. Something adventurous is always happening in this book and this also contributes to it being a fun read.

Lastly, lessons are to be learned all throughout this book. One lesson in particular is to never attack a man with a club. But seriously, a great lesson is to never let the past hold you back and to hold your head up high for the future. This is what I saw Buck do throughout the book.

In summary, the call of the wild was a spectacular read. I enjoyed every second spent reading such a wonderful classic. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, whether they like to read or not.

Antigone Review

Sophocles's Antigone left me flabbergasted because of the story's format, because of the word selection, and because of the confusion.

The format of the story was in play form. Personally, I hate trying to read a story and have to see when one character switches to another. The story never seems to flow because of this certain aspect and never really held me in. The book took longer than it should have taken because of this particular format.

Word selection was also hard to comprehend. I understand why Sophocles used the words he did, because those were the words of his particular time frame. I did not like having to go back and forth from looking up words and reading because of his word selection. Word selection also contributed a large part in what took the book a long time for me to finish.

Confusion was the main reason for such a bad review for Antigone. I never could picture the people having their conversations or see what they were doing. I could never distinguish whether the chorus was one person or a group of people or the way Creon felt, either being sarcastic at times or mean at other times. I felt lost and never could really see what was going on until the very end.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes stories written in play format and are great at staying focused on what is going on. To others, like myself, I would not recommend this book at all.

Taking a Stand

I have taken a stand for many different ideas and for many different reasons. On one occasion, I was in the fourth grade at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School when Dustin, a mentally slow, new student, walked through the classroom door. Immediately, I noticed he had something wrong with him. Later on, during the day, some of my friends were making fun of the way Dustin looked and the way he talked. I stayed calm for as long as I could. Unable to bottle the anger any more, I blew up on my two best friends and stood up for Dustin. Shortly after the fight, Dustin found out what I had done and we made great friends. A few days later, the two I yelled at said they were sorry to Dustin and the four of us became very close friends. In the end, I was able to stand up for someone I hardly knew, made friends with him, and kept the friends I stood up against for making fun of the new kid.

Sophmore Reflections

My sophmore year has been wonderful so far. In his magnificent speech, found in Act 3, Scene 2, he displays a true leader when he persuades a huge crowd to turn against Brutus and all of the conspirators just after they heard Brutus's speech and were for him. Hearing Antony's speech, the crowd quickly opened their eyes and saw they needed Caesar for a leader and not Brutus. The crowd could not have noticed such an event if Mark Antony was not such a wonderful leader.

This sort of leadership applies in all sorts of situations today. Ways to change a crowd's mind can vary from selling a product to voting for a president. Salespeople are always showing how their product is better than the other person they are competing against just like how Antony proves how Caesar was better than Brutus. Chosing a president is also in the same boat. One candidate tries to slam the other in many different ways, while the other is doing the same technique. These are just a few of many examples of how leadership Antony shows can be compared to in todays society.

Rope Up!

Life is not fun when someone is falling over the edge and has nothing to hold them back. Therefore, people must rope up with someone who has similar problems and the two people could work together and have a rope between them.

I named my post "Rope Up" because I have ropes tied to different people for different problems. One major example is my basketball team. We are very competitive and push each other allowing the team to improve as a whole and individually. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens has a small exerpt about roping up with someone in a similar situation and let the two work together to overcome at the same time. I have many ropes tied to Colin, my older brother, and he has the same tied back. Thinking I am a clone, many people do not see the simile in us. In some areas, we do not have ropes tied to each other and cannot save the other if in trouble. All of the time, we kindle each other, but such actions show brotherly love and nothing else. But underneath all of the fussing and fighting, there are many ropes holding us together.

Simile: A stated comparison (usually formed with "like" or "as") between two fundamentally dissimilar things that have certain qualities in common.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens #1

I have recently been reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, a book worth reading if someone wants to straighten their lives out. In one particular part of the book, a story is told about a boy growing from the 90 pound weakling (metaphorically speaking, he would be a walking stick) to the football team captain and had the "Best Body" award. I can reference this story to my life because, as in his life, I have made a commitment to getting stronger and heavier while going to the gym every single night and practicing as hard as I can. I feel this is the only way to reach nirvana within myself. The same story was written by the boy in the book and i guess my eye was caught on the selection because of my personal goal and experience.

From my point of view, I am positive everyone reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens will better their lives in many different ways. The guide has helped a lot of people's lives and could help out someone else in need.

Metaphor: an implied comparison between two unlike things that actually have something important in common

Letter to the Next President

Conor Lawrence
P.O. Box 145
Mt. Pleasant, AR 72561
(870)-346-5164
October 3, 2008

Senator John McCain
McCain-Palin Southwest Regional Headquarters
5353 N. 16th StreetSuite 120Phoenix, AZ 85016

Dear Senator John McCain:

I have three pet peeves about the next President of the United States. I shall start by asking you if you are planning on having a well structured education program. My view of a well structured education program would have the staff at schools more interested in their jobs by increasing the amount of their gross income. . The last two ideas in the series will make teachers hate school, but, over time, I know they will appreciate the idea of disciplined teaching. Another topic irritating me on presidency is the economy. Will you raise or lower taxes? Depending on your interests, are you going to raise the tax prices and make the cities a cleaner, organized, and prettier place, or are you going to lower the price of taxes and make life easy going for the common man? Personally, I would prefer the lower of tax prices because I live on a farm in a small town and the town does not need any of the topics I listed and there are places of such a status all over the United States. Lastly, what are you going to do about Iraq? Are you going to let the war continue and let America suffer by possibly having terrorists come and try to destroy our nation, or, on the contrary, are you going to make peace in the Middle East and save the families of the soldiers from their worrying and send the people who are fighting for all who lives in the United States’ freedom? For me to support you, get the soldiers out! There, simple and easy to remember. I know you have the best choice for president and if you can do these three issues, you will make the greatest presidential choice for America.

Sincerely,

Conor Lawrence

cc. First, sci-fi writing is extremely entertaining. Because the writing is not real, adventure stories can be made out of crazy ideas, such as going into the future. Secondly, science fiction writing can sometimes be scary. Once again, because the stories are made up, scary plots can be designed to frighten the reader in many ways, possibly even creating a monster to scare even adults. Lastly, sci-fi writing is not real. A reader might already know this because half of the title is fiction, but sometimes while reading, one might forget this and have to say to themselves, "this is not real!" for they might be a little scared. In conclusion, sci-fi writing gets a check under promotional from me for three reasons, it is entertaining, scary at times, and it is always made up in the imagination.

My hero "Guapo"

The name of my hero is Guapo, which is Spanish for ''handsome''. Guapo is a warrior, strong, and can become invisible. First, Guapo is a mighty warrior. He has been into battle 384 times and has always come out alive. Secondly, the handsome man has super strength. Guapo once proved his strength to the whole village of people in Akhdad by crushing three of the best warriors together into one small cat. Lastly, Guapo can become invisible. The stars on his robe contain sensors that allows the robe to ''blend-in'' with the environment. Although many characteristics could describe Guapo, the ability to become invisible, having super strength, and being a powerful warrior describe him best.
